The Paperwork Always Tells
The vivo X500E just took one step closer to reality. The unreleased phone has surfaced on the Bluetooth SIG certification database under model number V2656, GSMArena reports — the kind of regulatory filing that typically lands a few weeks before launch. The X500 trio cleared the same process shortly before its September 21 debut.
As usual, the Bluetooth listing reveals nothing about specs, launch dates, or markets. But the timing is suggestive: vivo’s X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max go global on October 27, and the X500E — alongside the rumored X500 FE — looks set to round out the family later.
What the Leaks Say — and Where They Disagree
The rumor mill has sketched a fairly specific phone: a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display, a 50MP main camera, a 64MP periscope telephoto, and a 7,500mAh battery, according to GSMArena’s sources. That battery figure would match the standard X500 and beat the X500 Pro’s 6,510mAh pack.
But the leaks split on the most important spec of all: the chip. GSMArena’s rumor points to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, while other reports tip a Snapdragon 8-series processor, Gizmochina notes. The distinction matters — the X300 E, the phone the X500E succeeds, shipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. A switch to MediaTek for the follow-up would be a genuine platform change, not a footnote. Treat the silicon as genuinely undecided until vivo says otherwise.
Design may shift too: the X500E is rumored to trade the X300 E’s rounded camera island for a square module in the top-left corner, with ZEISS tuning carrying over.
For reference, the bar the X300 E set is high: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor, a 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto, an 8MP ultrawide, a 7,200mAh battery with 90W wired charging, and a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED at 144Hz — starting at CNY 4,799 (about $710) in China. The rumored X500E spec sheet reads like a direct evolution of that phone, with the battery bumped to 7,500mAh and the periscope possibly jumping from 50MP to 64MP.
Why this matters: the “E” formula is getting clear
Step back and vivo’s playbook snaps into focus. The X300 E was the compact-ish alternative in its lineup — a 6.59-inch screen, flagship silicon, ZEISS cameras, and a 7,200mAh battery at a price well under the flagships. The X500E rumors describe the same recipe, sharpened: same handy size, a bigger 7,500mAh cell, and a periscope zoom that keeps the camera story intact.
That combination — small-ish phone, enormous battery, real zoom — is exactly the formula the market keeps rewarding, and vivo is now running it back across generations. For US readers: vivo doesn’t sell phones stateside, but the X series is where two trends that eventually reach every flagship get proven first — silicon-carbon batteries pushing past 7,000mAh, and periscope cameras becoming standard rather than Ultra-exclusive.
None of this is confirmed, of course. Bluetooth SIG filings are paperwork, not product launches. But the pattern from the X500 trio holds: certification now, teasers soon, launch within weeks.
